Get started

Add Jellyn to your Discord server, choose your staff roles and log channels, and run your first shift.

You need to be the owner of the Discord server, or have Manage Server there. The whole thing takes about five minutes.

  1. Sign in to Jellyn

Go to jellyn.xyz and sign in with Discord. Your Jellyn account is made the first time you sign in, and Discord tells Jellyn who you are; Jellyn never sees your password.

  2. Add the bot to your server

On your dashboard, press New, then Add Jellyn to a server. Discord asks which server and which permissions to give the bot. Keep the permissions it asks for: Jellyn needs them to post logs, give roles and read your channels.

  3. Run /setup in Discord

In your server, run /setup. A form asks for:

    FieldWhat it is
Staff rolesWho can use staff commands, like shifts and punishment logs. Required.
Management rolesWho can issue infractions, void cases, approve leave and post announcements. Optional.
Audit log channelSettings changes and staff infractions. Keep it private to management.
Shift log channelShift starts and ends are posted here.
Punishment log channelPunishment records are posted here, with their evidence files.

Jellyn checks it can post in each channel and tells you if it can't. You can change all of this later with /settings or on the dashboard.

  4. Open your server's dashboard

Back on your dashboard, your server now has a card. Press Dashboard on it. The sidebar lists everything the server has: General, Members, Roles, Discord, Moderation, Activity and more.

  5. Bring in your staff

Anyone with one of your staff roles is on the team already: they sign in to Jellyn and see the server. To let in someone without a staff role, share the join code from the General page; they ask to join and you accept them under Members.

  6. Start your first shift

In Discord, run /shift and press Start shift. The shift log channel gets a post, and the shift shows on the Activity page and in the moderator panel.

That's it: your server is set up. Run /help in Discord at any time to see every command, grouped by what it is for.
